Spirit of Hope Youth Ranch, Inc. was founded in 2006 as a program to provide hope, healing, and restoration to families. Our goal is to create a safe haven for both children and rescued horses in need of mutual healing. By doing so, we hope to demonstrate God's love. Our founding directors were brought together in May 2006 at a training conference in Bend, Oregon held at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch, the model on which we are based. Spirit of Hope Youth Ranch plans to operate year round with hopes of serving 50 youth during our first year of operation. Youth will receive instruction in grooming, beginner horseback riding skills, tacking, basic horse care, and horse training techniques. These skills aid youth in personal development by the encouragement and empowerment of becoming confident horseback riders as well as becoming compassionate horse caretakers. Funding is provided by individual contributions with plans for grant writing to provide start-up monies.
